Username

Developer account usernames are commonly either the same as a user's Wikimedia account username or their real name. 150

SSH access (shell) username

Your shell username will be used when logging into Toolforge, other Wikimedia VPS or Wikimedia production hosts using SSH. This name is typically shorter than a wiki username. It must start with a-z, and can only contain lowercase a-z, 0-9 and - characters. 32

Your email must be unique. If you are setting up an account for a bot, please use a dedicated email address or an address suffix, e.g. user+bot@example.com (if your mailserver supports this).

Password

It is recommended to use a unique password that you are not using on any other website.

Enter the same password as before, for verification.

Creating an account means complying with the Terms of Use for Wikimedia Cloud Services and the Code of Conduct for Wikimedia technical spaces.

When you create or use a Wikimedia developer account, some information becomes visible to other users of Wikimedia Cloud Services. Specifically, the email address linked to your account will be publicly visible. Additionally, when you connect to virtual machines in Wikimedia Cloud VPS using SSH, your IP address will be recorded. This information might be visible to other users of Cloud VPS or Toolforge.

By signing up, you agree to respect the privacy of other users. This means you won't collect, store, or share their private data or personally identifiable information like usernames, passwords, or IP addresses, unless it's necessary under the conditions outlined in the Terms of Use.
